Berklee Performance Center Concerts
April 25 - Berklee Jazz Flute Ensemble/Back Bay Brass Jazz Orchestra -
Directed by faculty member Jerry Cecco, the Berklee Jazz Flute ensemble is
modelled after the group “Super Sax” with five flutes and five rhythm. They will
perform compositions by James Williams, Dick Odgren, Miles Davis and Victor
Mendoza.
April 28 - He’ll Work It Out - An evening of contemporary and traditional
gospel music performed by Berklee’s Reverence Gospel Ensemble directed
faculty member Dennis Montgomery III. Berklee’s small gospel ensemble,
Overjoyed, will also perform.
April 29 - An Evening with the Berklee Rainbow Band - Phil Wilson leads the
Berklee Rainbow Banding of standards and origiagnls performed by some of
Berklee’s finest performers with a guest appearance by the Berklee Vocal Jazz
Ensemble directed by Art LaPierre.
April 30 - Berklee Vocal Jazz Ensemble/The Concert Choir sings Gloria by
Antonio Vivaldi - The Berklee Vocal Jazz Ensemble celebrates an evening of
vocal jazz music by perforing arrangements of Miles Davis, The Beach Boiys,
Johnny Mercer, Bill Evans and faculty member Phil Wilson. Featured soloists
include Nina Brodd, Sophia Olivet and Daniel Medel. Then the Berklee Concert
Choir, under the directio of faculty member Anne Peckham, perfomres Vivaldi’s
vocal masterwork, Gloria.
May 1 - Chord Scale Madness/Straight Ahead - Under the direction of Jazz
Composition department faculty member Jackson Schultz, some of the strongest
student arrangements from the “Voicings Derived from Chord Scales” course will
be performed by a large ensemble. Then Ensemble department faculty member
Lin Biviano presents big band jazz in the style of the Maynard Ferguson and
Buddy Rich Bands performing compositions and arrangements by Oliver Nelson,
Joe Farrell, Don Menza and John LaBarbera.
