Title

Berk Recital Hall - Room 1A, 1140 Boylston Street

Scope and Content Note

Lawrence and Alma Berk Hall is located on the ground floor of the 1140 Boylston Street building. Named in honor of Berklee's founder, Lawrence Berk, and his wife, Alma, the hall can accommodate 118 audience members.

Beginning in the early 1980s, the 1140 Boylston Street concert venues were the first on-campus venues where students could perform. Housed in one of the original Berklee buildings, the venues underwent a major renovation in the mid-'90s and another minor update in the mid-2000s.

Any performers of note who attended Berklee performed in the 1140 venues during their time here as a student. While perhaps not as well known to the public at large as the college's larger venues, Berk Hall and Colvin Hall are truly hallowed ground for Berklee.
