Guinga Meets Berklee

This concert features the compositions,
guitar, and voice of Guinga (nee
Carlos Althier de Souza Lemos
Escobar). Guinga is one of the
foremost musicians in Brazil. His collaborations with
other musicians as a guitarist, singer, and composer
read like a who's who of contemporary Brazilian
music. His growing oeuvre is garnering praise such
as this from Hermeto Pascoal: “A guy like that only
appears every hundred years.” Guinga will be
playing and singing his own compositions, supported
by the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra
under the direction of Francisco Noya, with
arrangements provided both by Paulo Aragao

(a rising star in the Brazilian guitar universe) and by
select Berklee faculty and students. The Orchestra
will be augmented by student and faculty feature
soloists in a very special night of music. Produced by
John Stein and Fernando Brandao, with musical
direction by Matthew Nicholl and Oscar Stagnaro.
