Concurrent
Session V

Tihai and Ginti

136 Massachusetts Avenue, Room B16

Say what? Say “te te ka ta ga di ge na dha.” In this interactive
session, nine syllables from Indian tabla drumming will be
used to build rhythm cadences that can be applied to any
instrument or context. But why get bogged down with
complicated questions like, “What's a tihai?” Ginti are
compositions built using numbers that can be converted into
melodies. Come and discover something uniquely cool and
accessible. All you need to know is how to count from one

to nine.

Spirituality in the Classroom
150 Massachusetts Avenue, Room 118

Does your spiritual belief system affect your teaching? In a
pluralistic institution such as Berklee, how do you address
and nourish the spiritual growth of your students while
respecting differences in religious and cultural backgrounds
and spiritual languages? What ways have you found to bring
your spiritual practice to life in the classroom? Whether you
practice prayer, meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, music, or any
other spiritual or mind/body practice, join us for this inclusive
roundtable discussion. Share your stories and hear from
colleagues about how their spiritual practices and beliefs
affect their teaching in positive ways. Attendance at this
session will be capped.
