MESSAGE FROM
THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
On behalf of our president, Roger H. Brown, our vice president
for education outreach and social entrepreneurship, Lee
Whitmore, and the entire Berklee City Music family, I'd like to
offer a heartfelt welcome to all of you: our students, families,
and friends, plus our very special guest hosts, Ms. Kiki Haynes
and Mr. Walter McCarty. We are delighted to have you join us
for the 2014 City Music Scholarship Concert as we celebrate
the efforts and talents of City Music Summer Scholarship
recipients who are in the midst of completing Berklee College
of Music’s Five-Week Summer Performance Program.
This year's concert showcases 53 of the most talented and
gifted students from the greater Boston area, along with

Tonight we will award more than $2 million in scholarships
to City Music students, which are funded by generous
contributions from individuals and organizations. Many of
you are here with us tonight. Still, there is a great disparity
between the number of students deserving of scholarships and
the number of scholarships we are able to award. With your
help, | know we can close that gap.
One-hundred percent of tonight’s proceeds will be used
to create more scholarships for students who might not
otherwise have access to a college education. By means of
your presence alone, you are contributing to a culture of
opportunity and change in every one of these young persons’
lives.
Warm regards,
J. Curtis Warner Jr.
