MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR On behalf of our president, Roger H. Brown, our vice president for education outreach and social entrepreneurship, Lee Whitmore, and the entire Berklee City Music family, I'd like to offer a heartfelt welcome to all of you: our students, families, and friends, plus our very special guest hosts, Ms. Kiki Haynes and Mr. Walter McCarty. We are delighted to have you join us for the 2014 City Music Scholarship Concert as we celebrate the efforts and talents of City Music Summer Scholarship recipients who are in the midst of completing Berklee College of Music’s Five-Week Summer Performance Program. This year's concert showcases 53 of the most talented and gifted students from the greater Boston area, along with 64 students from Berklee organizations around the with the traditional awarc attend Berklee College o The Berklee City Music N than 40 member organi around the U.S. and Can students each year. Our d students for college is sig seniors applied to Berklee to an acceptance rate of great number of students universities, and schools ¢ Tonight we will award more than $2 million in scholarships to City Music students, which are funded by generous contributions from individuals and organizations. Many of you are here with us tonight. Still, there is a great disparity between the number of students deserving of scholarships and the number of scholarships we are able to award. With your help, | know we can close that gap. One-hundred percent of tonight’s proceeds will be used to create more scholarships for students who might not otherwise have access to a college education.
