design of Advanced Management Techniques and the 2016
Envisioning Music Business “Design Hackathon,” which
encourage students to have a voice and choice in what

and how they learn. These reviews are meant as starting
points for our collective conversation toward the goal for
students to not only master standards-based content, but
also to demonstrate mastery of skills such as critical thinking,
problem solving, collaboration, and self-efficacy so they
become self-directed, independent learners.

Why Our Students Need Reiki
7 Haviland Street, Room 303

Student stress levels have reached an all-time high.
According to an Associated Press poll, 80 percent of college
students experience some level of stress every day. The
Reiki program at Berklee offers students a safe and easy way
to increase well-being and relieve stress. Reiki is a gentle,
noninvasive touch therapy that facilitates the deep relaxation
needed for physical, mental, and emotional healing. It is
already being offered to students at Simmons College and
Wheelock College. Reiki has also become a standard part

of the wellness services offered at the Dana Farber Cancer
Center, Boston Children’s Hospital, Brigham and Women'’s
Hospital, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and Massachusetts
General Hospital. The presenter is a third-degree Reiki
Master Teacher (the highest level possible) in the Usui
Lineage since 1996. This session will discuss: the history and
culture of Reiki in Japan and America; the practice of Reiki as

a complementary healing modality in hospitals and treatment
centers; and Reiki at Berklee. The session will conclude with
a brief demonstration of the Reiki energy to volunteers from
the audience.
