According to an Associated Press poll, 80 percent of college students experience some level of stress every day. Reiki is a gentle, noninvasive touch therapy that facilitates the deep relaxation needed for physical, mental, and emotional healing. It is already being offered to students at Simmons College and Wheelock College. Reiki has also become a standard part of the wellness services offered at the Dana Farber Cancer Center, Boston Children’s Hospital, Brigham and Women'’s Hospital, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital. The presenter is a third-degree Reiki Master Teacher (the highest level possible) in the Usui Lineage since 1996. This session will discuss: the history and culture of Reiki in Japan and America; the practice of Reiki as a complementary healing modality in hospitals and treatment centers; and Reiki at Berklee. The session will conclude with a brief demonstration of the Reiki energy to volunteers from the audience. —Presented by: Carolyn Wilkins —Hosted by: Alyssa Ozimek-Maier
