Berklee Performance Center Concerts
Fall 1997
October 21 - YB4 & Friends/”7, la vie” - Composer/arranger/saxophonist Yann
Bettremieux presents original compositions on the borders of jazz and funk
combining sophisticated melody and harmonic progressions with heavy grooves
and arranged for five horns. Then guitarist Nicolas Meier presents his quartet and
sextet in an original fusion of jazz-rock and Latin compositions
October 22 - The Firm of Morris, Stinnett, Hollender & Santerre-Bass
Department Faculty Concert - Bass department faculty members showcase the
diversity of the department with a variety of groups and settings. Danny Morris
presents his quintet playing rock and blues; Jim Stinnett’s Quintet plays jazz
fusion with six tring electric bass; Dave Hollender’s trio performs arco acoustic
jazz bass and Joe Santerre’s quartet plays jazz fusion orignals and a J.S. Bach
composition.
October 23 - Bjgrn Myrholt Quartet/This Time - Drummer Bjorn Myrholt leads
his quartet in an evening of acoustic jazz with elements from world music and
featuring faculty bassist Josh Davis. Then bassist David Lockeretz presents folk,
pop, jazz and film music performed by his quintet.
October 29 - Fall Together - Faculty composers Ken Pullig, Ted Pease, Greg
Hopkins, Phil Wilson, Bob Pilkington, and Bruce Thomas will be featured in this
year's Jazz Compostion Dept traditional fall concert, “Fall Together”. A wide
variety of styles and approaches to the art of jazz composition are included. The
music will be performed by a jazz orchestra of faculty players from across the
college. Featured soloists will include Matt Marvuglio, Greg Hopkins, Phil
Wilson, Joe Hunt, and many others.
November 3 - WindsDay Concert-Steve Turre & Walt Weiskopf
Voice Week Concerts
November 4 - Vocal Jazz Series - Voice department faculty member Maggi Scott
presents a select group of singers to perform jazz standares accompanied by a
trio.
November 5 - Gabrielle Goodman
November 6 - Singers’ Night
