David Friend Recital Hall Concerts

April 6 [1:00 pm] Berklee Marimba Concert,
directed by Nancy Zeltsman and Dean Ander-
son - This program will feature members of
two Berklee Marimba Ensembles and two
marimba solo performers: Tj Thompson and
Nabonita Nag. Music by Fitkin, Gershwin,
Kopetzki, A. Lauro, Moszkowski, Tarrega
and others will also be performed.

April 6 [4:00 pm] - Berklee Composers Ma-
rimba Concert, directed by Nancy Zeltsman
and Andrew List - The selected works from
the recent “Call for Scores” includes solo and
small ensemble works by Berklee compos-
ers Seth Boggess, Christopher Carmichael,
Andres Espinoza, Tommy Pedrini Roberto
Toscano, and Sung-hye Yoon. These works
will be performed by Berklee marimbists and
members of the Berklee Marimba Ensembles.

April 6 [7:30 pm| Seth Woodard: Senior
Marimba Recital

April 10 - Kind of Red — Pianist Joo Heon
Kim will perform original modern jazz with
for trio and special guests.

April 11-The Game of Fame Concert/Work-
shop - Original music written for a faculty
grant received in May 2005 will be per-
formed by faculty pianist/composer JoAnne
Brackeen and her quartet including Lakecia
Benjamin, alto saxophone; Ugonna Okegwo,
bass and Kendrick Scott, drums.

April 12 - Free, Improvised and Composed
Music — Visiting artist John Tchicai and trio
with faculty guitarist Garrison Fewell will
perform and demonstrate approaches for
playing improvised music with examples and
compositions from Tchicai’s book “Advice to
Improvisers.”

April 13 —That’s It! - Anna Hoffmann pres-
ents jazz, funk and fusion originals in here
Jazz Composition Portfolio Recital. Her octet
features a 4 piece horns section and special
guests faculty member Marcello Pellitteri,
drums and Lars Haake saxophone.

April 19 — Senior Voice Recital: Nona Boehm
- A program of contemporary music, jazz and
originals will be presented by vocalist Nona
Boehm and her band for her senior recital.

April 24 - [1:00pm] - Advanced Small Band
Ensemble - Post Bop and contemporary

jazz compositions by John Coltrane, Dave
Liebman, Mike Brecker and Freddie Hubbard
will be performed by this six piece ensemble
directed by Ed Tomassi.

April 24 — [2:30pm] - 21st century Grooves
— David Fiuczynski leads this ensemble
performing originals and unique modern
groove arrangement of covers with intense
improvisational interplay.

April 24 — [4:00pm] —Caribbean Ensemble

- Faculty member Winston Maccow presents
his student ensemble performing music from
the Caribbean Islands.

April 24 - [7:30pm| — Clarinet Choir — Un-
der the direction of Peter Cokkinias, this
ensemble performs traditional and contempo-
rary music for clarinet.

April 25 - [1:00pm] — Reggae/Dub Ensemble
- Faculty member Winston Maccow presents
his student ensemble performing reggae and
dub music.

April 25 - [2:30pm] — Brazilian Jazz

— Faculty member Fernando Brandao leads
this student ensemble performing jazz from
Brazil including compositions by Caetano
Veloso, Milton Nascimento and Brandao.
