A New Age of Activism
22 Fenway, Room 204
The 2016 presidential campaign brought to the surface a
dramatic level of discontent with the status quo. Both of
the major party candidates drew negative ratings in public
opinion surveys. Some said that efforts during the campaign
to present an alternative, from within the Democratic party
and later from outside it, were obstructed by a combination
of party-imposed rules and media practices. This panel
will discuss how popular discontent has been denied full
expression. In order to become effective, it will need to
create new spaces, new forces, new institutions, which will
also need to embody a higher sense of common purpose
than has been defined. This panel session will explore
what we can do, as artists and as citizens, to contribute to
this process.

Matt Jenson, Teodros Kiros, Beth Platow, Marc Rossi, and
Adam Szetela
