Berklee Performance Center Concerts
October 10 - Koven’s Surf Music Spectacular/Points of
Hue - Koven Smith presents new contemporary compositions
for Big Band that make reference to Weather Report, John
Zorn, Jawbox and The Jackson Five including a setting of an
e.e. cummings poem performed by vocalist Megan Gass. In the
second half Mark Lopes presents contemporary jazz originals
and compositions by Dave Holland and Ornette Coleman for
his quintet.
October 15 - “Us”/On the Tee - Vibraphonist/composer Oli
Bott presents his jazz-suite for big band entitled “Us”. Then
pianist Yoohchan Kwak presents jazz standards by Rodgers &
Hart, Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer and Frank Loesser for his
trio.
October 18 - The Family Weekend Concert, Taking Care of
Business 8049, The Berklee Jazz-Rock Ensemble, featuring
some of Berklee’s most talented student vocalists, instrumental-
ists, and arrangers, performs a tribute to past Berklee honorary
doctorate recipients with the music of Quincy Jones, Bonnie
Raitt, Phil Collins, Nancy Wilson, Sting, Arif Mardin, and Billy
Joel. Tonight’s concert begins at 7:30 p.m..
