Berklee Performance Center Concerts
April 27 Chord Scale Madness/Shaken, Not Stirred - Under the direction of Jazz
Composition department faculty member Jackson Schultz, some of the strongest
student arrangements from the “Voicings Derived from Chord Scales” course will
be performed by a large ensemble. In the second half, faculty member Brian Lewis
presents big band music in a variety of jazz styles including funk, latin-samba,
latin-salsa and swing. Included in this performance will be a premiere of Brian
Lewis’ arrangement of I/l Wait and Pray featuring guest soloist Ear Training
department chair Greg Badolato.
April 28 Herb Pomeroy Tribute - Herb Pomeroy’s worldwide reputation as a jazz
performer, composer, arranger, teacher,and bandleader has brought credit and
prestige to Berklee College of Music for the past four decades. For thousands of
Berklee alumni over the years, having studied with Herb or played in one of his
ensembles made for the most indelible memories of their Berklee experience. In
honor of Herb Pomeroy, Berklee will present a tribute concert featuring Herb
leading a band of all-star student, faculty, and alumni guest artists including Joe
Zawinul, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Arif Mardin, Sadao Watanabe, Michael Gibbs, John
Abercrombie, Abe Laboriel, Sr., Tiger Okoshi, and many others.
May 5, 6 Commencement Concert
May 8 Mozart’s Requiem - The Berklee Concert Choir, under the direction of
Voice department faculty member Anne Peckham, will perform Mozart’'s Requiem
with full orchestra. The fifty voice SATB choir features soloists Katarzyna Sokalla,
Clare Eggleston, Doug Kim, Juanita Harris, Brian Lucas, Michael Henneise, Youn
Sung Kim, Mimi Rohlfing and Anne Gurmankin.
The Performance Center at Berklee College of Music is a Ticketmaster outlet.
