Berklee Performance Center Concerts



November 17 Corporate Night-The Berklee Jazz-Rock Ensemble - Corporate
Night is an annual event in which the college honors professionals in the commu-
nity who dedicate themselves to the enrichment of the arts. This year, the college
will be recognizing the contributions of TV Channel 4’s Arts an Entertainment
reporter Joyce Kulhawik. The concert will feature some of the best of the Berklee
Jazz-Rock Ensemble’s past performances including special highlights from several
commencement and convocation concerts. Senior Robin Spears will perform her
tribute to Jazz Divas and other featured vocalists include Jonathan Royal, Joe Freel,
LaQuinta Brown, Stephanie Kelly, Deanna DellaCioppa, Leland Simmons, Sherma
Andrews and Tim McCormick. They will be performing the music of Sting, Billy
JNoel, Ella Fitzgerald, Paul Simon and Nancy Wilson. The evening will also include
a special guest appearance by Performance Studies faculty member Livingston
Taylor. Corporations from and the Boston area have been invited to share in this
special evening.

November 21 The Berklee Concert Choir - Under the direction of Voice
department faculty member Sharon Brown, the Concert Choir will present a concert
of classical choral music featuring a motet by J.S. Bach, Agnus Dei , by Samuel
Barber and Serenade to Music by Ralph Vaughan Williams. For the final piece of
the program Brass department faculty member Susan Fleet will join the choir for
Song ofthe Open Road by Norman Dello Joio, a choral proclamation for chorus,
trumptet solo and piano with text by Walt Whitman. Auria Abraham is the
accopmpanist for the chorus.

November 22 The Be-Bop Guitars Meet Maggi Scott/A Woody Herman
Tribute- The Be-Bop guitars, an all guitar faculty ensemble of six guitars, bass and
drums under the direction of John Baboian, will be joined by faculty vocalist Maggi
Scott and faculty trumpeter/arranger Jerry Cecco in a performance of mainstream
jazz standards and compositions by Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis. In the second
half, faculty member Greg Hopkins leads the Berklee Woody Herman Ensemble in a
tribute to the late bandleader.

December 1 Singers’ Showcase - In it's 11th year, the Performance Division’s
You Team Productions presents some of Beklee's finest vocalists including Joe Freel,
Deanna Della Cioppa, Monical Lynk, Cesar Munoz, Megan Gass, Paulien Van
Shaick, Jason Ralicki, and the group 4 A Moment. They will be performing the
music of Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway, Steve Winwood, Barbara Striesand,
Ruben Blades, Minnie Ripperton and many others in a variety of instrumental
settings and arrangements written especially for this event.
