Welcome to a presentation by the premier jazz ensemble of the
United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C.

The many varieties of jazz, from swing to be-bop to fusion are part
of the Commodores musical repertoire. The Commodores will
perform the music of such legendary artists as Glenn Miller, Benny
Goodman, and Count Basie, as well as the contemporary sounds of
Chick Corea, Bob Mintzer, and Herbie Hancock.

Throughout the concert various memebers of the band are featured
as soloists. Original compositions and arrangements by the
Commodore's own talented writers such as Harvey Coonin, Clyde
Conner, Scott Silbert, Scott Ragsdale and Phil Burlin are high-
lighted.

Vocalist Leslie Simpson is showcased as she performs jazz and
popular standards. Her unique vocal style is a favorite of audi-
ences nationwide.
