Berklee Performance Center Concerts
Out of Kilter—Faculty pianist Consuelo Candelaria will perform
acoustic jazz originals with her quintet.
Five-week Welcoming Concert: Blues After Dark & Friends—
Bob Doezema, Assistant Director of the Five-week Summer
Performance Program, will lead Blues After Dark, performing blues
and R & B selections with special guests and friends from the five-
week faculty.
A Tribute to Marvin Gaye—A retrospective look at the career of
Marvin Gaye, from his early Motown hits to his last recordings is
offered by faculty saxophonist Randy Felts with special guest
Berklee student Billy Gee, a former member of the Marvin Gaye
Band, and assisted by a large ensemble of students and faculty
including a horn section of Bill Scism, trumpet, and Bruce
Nifong and Berke McKelvey, saxophones.
The Navigators/Blue Funk—Faculty guitarist Craig Hlady presents
blues, rock, R & B, and jazz performed by his quintet plus vocals.
In the second half, blues and funk originals and standards will be
performed by faculty guitarist Tomo Fujita with faculty members
Larry Finn, drums, Joe Santerre, bass, and Kim Steiner, keyboards.
Collaboration—Faculty guitarist David Howard presents the Joe
Parillo Ensemble performing original music incorporating elements
of jazz, Latin, and world music.
The Back Bay Brass Jazz Orchestra—Big band jazz originals in
swing, Latin, and contemporary styles will be presented by faculty
trombonist, composer, and arranger Ben Elkins.
