Berklee Performance Center Concerts

SPRING 1992

FRED DeCHRISTOFARO-ED TOMASSI QUARTET—Contemporary
jazz originals will be performed by faculty saxophonists Fred
DeChristofaro and Ed Tomassi with a quartet.

SOULMATES featuring Debby Larkin/BRASH BRASS BASH II—
Brass Department faculty member Jeff Stout opens this two-part
concert with his septet performing jazz and blues with a special guest
vocalist Debby Larkin, and faculty members trombonist Phil Wilson
and pianist Maggi Scott. In the second half, Brass Department Chair
Tom Plsek and faculty trumpeter Greg Hopkins present a nine-piece
brass ensemble with rhythm section performing compositions by
members of the Berklee community.

TAFT/RDB—Faculty guitarist Ken taft presents his quartet in a pro-
gram of soul-jazz featuring the B3 organ sound of Tom Beaver, tenor
saxophonist Nat Simkins, and drummer Herbie King. Then, Guitar
Department faculty member Mashi Hasu and his five-piece band
perform original rock music composed and arranged with special
guest Rich Dohr.

IT’S A CARNIVAL—Under the direction of Ensemble Chair Orville
Wright, this concert will feature the talents of Trinidadians affiliated
with Berklee and/or living in the Boston area. Making a special
appearance on this evening will be Christopher Herbert, a.k.a.
“Tambu,” a freshman who has won competitions in Trinidad as the
Road March King.. Sophomore vocalist Sherma Andrews and percus-
sionist Michael Tobas will also be appearing along with alumnus Ron
Reid on steel drum. Branches, a 12-piece steel band will be the
climax performance of the evening’s concert.
