Berklee Performance Center Concerts

SPRING 1991

CHORD SCALE MADNESS/THE BERKLEE BUDDY RICH EN-
SEMBLE—Faculty guitarist/arranger Jackson Schultz presents the best
student arrangements from the Chord Scales for Arrangers class
performed by a student ensemble. Then, faculty trumpeter Wayne
Naus presents the swing, Latin, and funk music of the late
bandleader/drummer Buddy Rich in arrangements by Don Menza,
Bob Mintzer, and others performed by Berklee’s own Buddy Rich
Ensemble.

THE FIFTH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL FOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL—
Yo Team Productions and the Dean of Student’s Office present
students from nine different countries in an evening of authentic
instrumentation, singing, dancing, and costumes from their native
lands. Groups from Asia, the Philippines, Greece, Taiwan, Norway,
Brazil, Curacao Antilles, as well as the Berklee Caribbean Ensemble
will be represented. There will be a party featuring various interna-
tional foods in the Berklee cafeteria immediately following the perfor-
mance.

SONGWRITERS NIGHT—Songwriting Department faculty member
Bob Weingart presents performances of the winning entries in the
annual Berklee Songwriting Contest. Songs in a wide range of pop
styles and a variety of settings will be performed by an all-student
ensemble.

THE EAR TRAINING DEPARTMENT CONCERT—Members of the
Ear Training Department will perform in a variety of settings includ-
ing big band, small jazz, fusion groups, vocal choir, and vocal with
band, featuring faculty as performers, arrangers, composers, or con-
ductors. Department members Brian Lewis, Greg Badolato, Tony
Germain, Susannah Sifter, Daryl Lowery, Lydia Okumura, Don Mixon,
Rick Peckham, and Carolyn Ritt will participate.

GUITAR NIGHT XV—Guitar Department Chair Larry Baione presents
performances in solo, duo, trio, quartet, and guitar ensemble settings
of funk, blues, jazz, classical, swing, and heavy metal styles. Featured
faculty include Charles Chapman with the Baroque Jazz Ensemble
and Jon Finn. Student performers will include Sten Hostfalt, Niclas
Knudson, and Tomo Fujita.
