Berklee Performance Center Concerts
FALL 1990
GREG OSBY AND SOUND THEATER—Saxophonist Greg Osby
concludes a three-day major residency at Berklee with a concert of
original contemporary jazz performed by his six-piece ensemble
Sound Theater.
PIANO DEPARTMENT FACULTY CONCERT —
THE BRAD HATFIELD QUINTET AND
THE JORGE MARTINEZ GROUP WITH PHIL WILSON —
The Piano Department will showcase two new faculty members,
Brad Hatfield and Jorge Martinez. In the first half, jazz fusion origi-
nals will be performed by Brad Hatfield and his quintet featuring
faculty saxophonist George Garzone. Latin jazz and original com-
positions follow performed by Jorge Martinez and his septet with
special guest faculty trombonist Phil Wilson.
TORSTEN de WINKEL AND HUMANIMAL TALK/CREDIT
OVERLOAD — Guitarist Torsten de Winkel opens this concert with
original contemporary eclectic music for this quintet with faculty
synthesist Jamshied Sharifi. In the second half, bassist Andreas Fliflet
presents his arrangements of jazz, Latin and R&B compositions by
Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Tower of Power and
others performed by a large ensemble.
