Berklee Performance Center Concerts



SPRING 1990

MARC ROSSI AND FRIENDS — Piano department faculty mem-
ber Marc Rossi offers an evening of original and standard jazz, funk
and world beat styles performed by his six-piece ensemble with
special guests faculty members percussionist Alan Hall and bassist
Oscar Stagnaro.

FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART/BERND SCHOENHART
BAND — Vocalist Yoko Watanabe presents jazz standards with her
trio and special guest Ensemble Department Chairman Orville Wright
followed by a large ensemble playing funk compositions and featuring
faculty members trumpeters Jerry Cecco and Bill Scism, saxophonist
Bob Zung and trombonist Lennie Peterson. In the second half, guitar-
ist Bernd Schoenhart presents original music for his quartet.

TEACHER FEATURE — The Commercial Arranging Department
faculty performs original compositions and arrangements in a variety
of settings in styles ranging from jazz and fusion to pop.

---OF A LIKE MIND/GROOVE MUSIC — Karen Kapantais

opens this concert with a program of blues, R & B, pop and folk com-
positions performed by her eleven-piece ensemble with featured
guest mandolinist Stephen Schwartz. In the second half, drummer
Rich Kulsar presents original compositions and arrangements of
tunes by Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton performed by his seven-
piece ensemble featuring guitarists Tomo Fujita and Gene Shimosato
as well as bassist Matthew Garrison.
