Berklee Performance Center Concerts

SPRING 1990

THE JILL SEIFERS GROUP/WATCH THE WOMAN’S HANDS —
Vocalist Jill Seifers presents an evening of high energy “non-standard
jazz” including compositions by Bud Powell, Joe Zawinul and the
Indigo Girls performed by her trio and special guests saxophonist
Donny McCaslin and vocalist Tom Baskett. In the second half, vocalist
Paula Cole and an eleven-piece ensemble perform original material in
the styles of Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush and Rickie Lee Jones.

DANCING WITCH OF THE PAMPAS/STASINOS-WE MEET
AGAIN — Composer/arranger/bassist Gustavo Gregorio presents
original South American Latin jazz with featured soloists pianist
Yumiko Murakami, trumpeter Diego Urcola, drummer Jorge Martinez,
trombonist Sandro Tomasi and bassist Pengbian Sang. In the second
half, funk and fusion originals by composer/ keyboardist Stavros Lantsias
will be performed by his eight-piece ensemble.

BLUES AFTER DARK/BRIAN LEWIS & THE GNUS — Faculty

guitarist Robert Doezema directs his six-piece band in a program

of blues and R & B music by B.B. King, Albert Collins, Freddie King

and Little Richard. Featured performers include faculty members

saxophonist Herman Johnson, bassist Ed Lucie and drummer

Rick Considine. Then, faculty trumpeter/ arranger Brian Lewis pre- -
sents original arrangements of contemporary big band compositions

with featured faculty soloists trombonist Phil Wilson, saxophonist

Greg Badolato and trumpeters Wayne Naus and Jerry Cecco.

(JET) + B3: THE ROCK EQUATION/THE ART COLLECTION —
Faculty vocalist Jennifer Terry presents rock originals and covers
performed by a band featuring guitarist Kevin Barry, drummer

Jay Bellerose and bassist Paul Bryan with special guest faculty guitarist
Robert Stanton. In the second half, faculty synthesist Kurt Biederwolf
leads a student ensemble performing fusion originals and composi-
tions by Jaco Pastorius, Mike Stern and George Duke.
