SPRING 1990

February 26 BASS DEPARTMENT STUDENT CONCERT —Solos, duos, trios
and quartets by Bass Department students will be presented under
the direction of Chairman Rich Appleman. The program will fea-
ture the bass in a variety of styles from traditional jazz to contem-
porary rock.

February 27 THE LEGEND OF TSUMI/JAPANESE WINTER IN BOSTON —
Faculty pianist Laszlo Gardony is joined by faculty members bass-
ist Dave Clark and drummer Marcello Pellitteri as well as guitarist
Mick Goodrick for a program of original contemporary jazz. In
the second half, Japanese folk songs arranged in a jazz style will be
offered by faculty pianist Makoto Takenaka and his quartet includ-
ing faculty saxophonist Bob Zung,

February 28 WIN A GRAMMY FOR MY MAMMY/YOUNG, GIFTED AND
BLACK—Drummer Dave Cowan presents his large ensemble per-
forming funk compositions by George Clinton, Quincy Jones, Earth,
Wind and Fire and band members. In the second half, vocalist
Lalah Hathaway presents popular covers of the 80s as well as rhythm
and blues, jazz and other styles performed by her large ensemble.
