ALI MCLEOD
Scottish producer and multi-instrumentalist Ali McLeod is an active performer and educator.
“Music can have a great emotional impact on people,” he says. “Making music is not just about writing songs, playing instruments
and performing, it’s about the desire to make a difference in people’s lives.”
Growing up in a household where music was always booming, McLeod started out on guitar and piano at age eight, before
becoming fascinated with rhythm and turning his focus to drumming at eleven.
He started formal studies at Edinburgh College, graduating “with Distinction” in Popular Music Performance, and completed his
degree at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, where he was awarded a BMus (Hons) with First Class
Honours. In the process, his taste expanded from an initial passion for classic rock and blues to include other genres such as jazz,
funk and fusion. He has been particularly inspired by the bands Snarky Puppy and Lettuce.
He studied under multiple Grammy-winning engineer Steve Genewick and Recording Academy 2010 “Producer of the Year” Gregg
Field and is currently producing several artists at Berklee College of Music, Valencia – including Sarah Martinson, Nan MacMillan
and Naomi Westwater. McLeod has also recorded with artists such as Marcelo Woloski and Nona Hendryx.
“Ali is a great musician and a very tenacious, hard-working person,” said pianist and composer Polo Orti.
McLeod strives to perfect each artist’s vision in his productions and enjoys working with creative artists in a wide array of styles.
His most recent work can be found on Disrupción Record’s latest release Sincerely, Women - where he arranged and produced a
version of Georgia On My Mind, performed by Cristy Alover.
