David Friend Recital Hall Concerts
April 11-The Game of Fame Concert/Work-
shop - Original music written for a faculty
grant received in May 2005 will be performed
by faculty pianist/composer JoAnne Brackeen
and her quartet including Lakecia Benjamin,
alto saxophone; Ugonna Okegwo, bass and
Kendrick Scott, drums.
April 12 — Free, Improvised and Composed
Music — Visiting artist John Tchicai and trio
with faculty guitarist Garrison Fewell will
perform and demonstrate approaches for
playing improvised music with examples and
compositions from Tchicai’s book "Advice to
Improvisers.”
April 13 —That’s It! - Anna Hoffmann pres-
ents jazz, funk and fusion originals in here
Jazz Composition Portfolio Recital. Her octet
features a 4 piece horns section and special
guests faculty member Marcello Pellitteri,
drums and Lars Haake saxophone.
April 19 — Senior Voice Recital: Nona Boehm
- A program of contemporary music, jazz and
originals will be presented by vocalist Nona
Boehm and her band for her senior recital.
April 24 -[1:00pm] - Advanced Small Band
Ensemble - Post Bop and contemporary
jazz compositions by John Coltrane, Dave
Liebman, Mike Brecker and Freddie Hubbard
will be performed by this six piece ensemble
directed by Ed Tomassi.
April 24 —[2:30pm] - 21st century Grooves
— David Fiuczynski leads this ensemble per-
forming originals and unique modern groove
arrangement of covers with intense improvisa-
tional interplay.
April 24 — [4:00pm | —Caribbean Ensemble
- Faculty member Winston Maccow presents
his student ensemble performing music from
the Caribbean Islands.
April 24 —|7:30pm| — Clarinet Choir — Under
the direction of Peter Cokkinias, this ensemble
performs traditional and contemporary music
for clarinet.

- Faculty member Winston Maccow presents
his student ensemble performing reggae and
dub music.
April 25 — [2:30pm] — Brazilian Jazz — Faculty
member Fernando Brandao leads this student
ensemble performing jazz from Brazil includ-
ing compositions by Caetano Veloso, Milton
Nascimento and Brandao.
April 25 —[4:00 pm] - Mostly Mahavishnu
- Mostly Mahavishnu focuses on the early 70s
with modern groove updates.
April 25 —[7:30pm|] — The Berklee Country
Music Ensemble - The Berklee Country Music
Ensemble under the direction of faculty guitar-
ist Mike Ihde, performs top country hits as
well as instrumentals in classic country, west-
ern swing, and rockabilly styles. An exciting
and entertaining evening of Hot Country and
Blazing Instrumentals performed by Berklee’s
best Pickers and Singers.

member Mimi Rabson presents a program
improvisational music for strings only.
April 26 —[2:30pm] — Music of Dave Holland
Ensemble - Faculty member Lello Molinari
presents Berklee’s Dave Holland ensemble
performing music from the bassists recordings.
April 26 — [4:00pm] — Advanced Small Band
Ensemble - A 7-piece ensemble performs
straight ahead jazz compositions under the di-
rection of faculty member Herman Hampton.
April 26 —[7:30 pm] Songwriter’s Circle
2006 - The Songwriting Department proudly
presents another in the annual Songwriter’s
Circle Series featuring four outstanding singer-
songwriters performing solo and duo versions
of their songs. This is an acoustic writers
showcase which features ‘the song’ rather than
‘the arrangement.” This year’s showcase will
feature Megan Burtt, Lucas Carpenter, James
Farrell and Gabrielle Sadler performing three
songs each in an acoustic setting featuring
voices and guitar or piano.
