Berklee Performance Center Concerts
Fall ‘85

Sept. 16 FALL TOGETHER — Faculty trombonist/arranger Bob Pifkington leads
an all-faculty big band in a varied concert of original contemporary
music including funk, post-bop, jazz-rock and ethno-jazz styles.

Sept. 18 BACHI BOUZOUK & CO. —Original modern jazz by the Aydin Esen
Quartet will be presented by bassist Gildas Bocle, featuring compositions
by group members.

Sept. 23 IMPROVISATIONS — Faculty saxophonist John LaPorta and faculty
pianist Bob Winter join forces playing compositions in a variety of
idioms treated in an improvised manner. Styles will range from a Bach
invention to bebop to calypso. Percussionist Greg McPherson will be
featured on a number of selections.

Sept. 24 THE ALLAN CHASE QUARTET — Faculty saxophonist Allan Chase
leads his quartet in an evening of contemporary acoustig jazz
compositions by Bob Moses, Bruno Raberg and group members with
special guest vocalist Dominique Eade.

Gept. 26 PUMPING ROSEWOOD — An all-facuity quintet led by guitarist
Paul Landsberg will perform contemporary jazz with trumpeter
Tim Hagans as featured soloist.

Sept. 30 TOTALLY WICKED AWESOME TRIO — Faculty bassist Ed Friedland
leads his trio in an evening of electric jazz. Compositions by Friedland
and keyboardist Brad Hatfield will be performed as well as works by
H. Hancock, J. DeJohnette and J. Scofield. Featured guests will be
faculty guitarist Jim Kelly and Berklee alumnus, percussionist Ray Frisby.

Oct. 1 THE DAN HARRINGTON QUARTET — Faculty baritone saxophonist
Dan Harrington and his quartet will perform an evening of acoustic
mainstream jazz. Selections will include compositions by Cole Porter,
Thelonious Monk and Freddie Hubbard.

Oct. 7 TRUMPET MADNESS II — Faculty trumpeters Tim Hagans and
Ken Cervenka retum to the Performance Center with "Trumpet
Madness II;" a program of high-energy contemporary bebop drawn from
the music of Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter and Freddie Hubbard as
well as originals by band members. The dueling trumpeters will be
backed by an all-star rhythm section of Bert Seager (piano),
John Lockwood (bass) and Gary Chaffee (drums).
