Berklee Performance Center Concerts

October 9 — Hidden From View/Suzanna Sifter Quartet — Original music
which fuses technology and improvisation with varied musical styles and
rhythms reflecting America’s diverse melting pot of multi-ethnic influences
will be performed by Moksha-an 8-piece ensemble under the direction of
faculty trumpeter Wayne Naus. Faculty members performing include Dino
Govoni, sax, Joe Mulholland, syntbsizer, Michael Farquharson, bass, Bob
Schlink, viotar and Berke McKelvey, atmospheres.

Then faculty pianist Suzanna Sifter presents acoustic jazz originals
performed by faculty members Dino Govoni, tenor saxophone and David
Weigert, drums with Marco Panascia, bass.

October 10 - Greg Hopkins Jazz Orchestra - The Greg Hopkins 16-piece
all-star Jazz orchestra has been playing it's own brand of large ensemble
jazz music for over 25 years now, all over New England and the north
east. Featured in the band are such stellar jazz soloists as Berklee
woodwind department chair Bill Pierce on tenor sax, faculty guitarist Mick
Goodrick, Tim Ray on piano, faculty members Paul Fontaine and Jeff
Stout, trumpets, Tony Lada and Jeff Galindo, trombones, and Artie Cabral
on drums. The band is premiering several new works this season, and
will, of course, play selections from their new recording, Okavongo.

October 15 - Emiko Segawa Jazz Vocal Concert/ One In Ten: The Music
of Marco Panascia — Emiko Segawa presents original jazz for sextet.
Then Bassist Marco Panascia presents original jazz in settings ranging
from trio to nonet and featuring faculty members Phil Wilson, trombone,
Greg Hopkins, trumpet and Ed Tomassi, saxophone.

October 23 - This Strange Kind of Feeling/ The Return of Majestique Blue
Saxophonist Gilad Ronen presents original music mixing American
musical concepts infused with rhythms form the Middle Eastern world.
Then drummer Kiyoshi Nishiji presents original fusion and World Music
compositions performed by a three-horn, two-voice and five-rhythm
ensemble.

October 29 - Bass Department Faculty Concert- The Bass department
presents faculty members Ron Mahdi, Danny Morris, Barrie Smith
leading their own groups in a variety of styles.
