Berklee Performance Center Concerts

FALL 1986

JAZZ VOCAL SUMMIT — Faculty vocalist Bob Stoloff presents this
four-voice a caf)ella group in a concert of jazz and free jazz by
composers including Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and

“original works by Stoloff.

COME BY HERE — The Berklee Reverence Gospel Ensemble,
directed by Dennis Montgomery III, with faculty advisor Ensemble
Department Chairman Orville Wright, presents its semesterly concert
of traditional and contemporary gospereaturing compositions of
Andre Crouch, Richard Smallwood and others.

AN EVENING WITH THE BERKLEE RAINBOW BAND — Faculty
trombonist/comfposer Phil Wilson directs an all-star student septet
in an evening of original jazz fusion by band members

Jean Baptist Bocle, Donny McCaslin, Danilo Perez and Phil Wilson.

TAKIN’ CARE OF BUSINESS 74 1/5 — IT'S AMAZING! —
Performance Studies Department Chairman Rob Rose and faculty arranger
Ken Zambello with Yo Team Productions present the Berklee
Jazz/Rock Ensemble in a tribute to rhythm-and-blues and rock piano
greats Fats Domino, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Billy Joel and others.

BACK BAY BRASS JAZZ ORCHESTRA — Faculty trombonist/
composer/arranger Ben Elkins presents the seventeen-piece Back Bay
Brass playing original big band jazz.

ROCK ARRANGING — LIVE! — Professional Writing Division facul
members Lennie Peterson and Mirek Kocandrle showcase the best o
the{(r sctludents‘ arrangements in diverse styles and settings within the
rock idiom.

Double Concert — “BONZ” SATOH/YOSHI ANDO
CONTEMPORARY JAZZ ORCHESTRA — Senior saxophonist

Hideya “Bonz” Satoh directs a sextet in a program of jazz and salsa
music in original arran%fmems. The second half will be presented by
composet/arranger Yoshiichi Ando directing a big band in a program
of contemporary jazz with special guest Aki Nakamura playing
Japanese bamboo flute. 0
