Berklee Performance Center Concerts

November 9 - Mirando al Sur/The Return of Zorro

Faculty vocalist-composer Mili Bermejo and double bassist Dan Greenspan
present their sextet in performance as part of Latin Culture Week activities.
Featured in this project is Bermejois fellow countryman Claudio Ragazzi, of film
scoring renown whose haunting compositions and fiery guitar-playing define the
musical geography and catalyze the group’s performances. The sextet is com-

pleted by pianist Tim Ray, accordionist Evan Harlan and drummer Steve Langone.

Repertoire includes zambas, chacareras and tangos: traditional as well as those
by a generation of contemporary Argentinean writers, and features original
compositions by Ragazzi with lyrics by Bermejo.

Then faculty vibraphonist Victor Mendoza leads his Latin Jazz Sextet performing
original music from his latest CD Black Bean Blues. This group includes faculty
members saxophonist Jim Odgren, bassist Fernando Huergo, Egui Castrillo,
percussion as well as Alon Yavanai, piano, and Steve Langone, drums.

November 13- Singers Night- Outstanding student vocalists representing all
semester levels will perform in a variety of styles including jazz, rock, R&B,
country and Latin under the direction of Voice department chair Jan Shapiro and
Assistant Professor Kira Small. The singers will be backed by a faculty rhythm
section.
