Berklee Performance Center Concerts

October 10- John Lennon’s 60th - Songwriting Faculty member John Stevens will
present an all-John Lennon Showcase. This concert will be a tribute to Lennon’s
work with the Beatles as well as his “solo” period. Playing in the show will be
Stevens’ four-piece all-Beatle band called “The Blue Meanies” as well as some
special guests which include: Ralph Rosen, harmonica; Jon Alrich, guitar/vocals;
and Dennis Cecere on piano. The 25-song show will primarily feature songs from
Lennon’s period with the Beatles, but 7 of the songs will be drawn from his solo
period after the Beatles’ break-up.

October 18- Heavy Rotatlon Records Epic Event- Featuring performances by
eight of Heavy Rotaion Record’s arist’s— Adrianne, Alison Notkin, Antje,Kristin
Cifelli, Rhea Dummett, Kyler, Plina and Mancain—in styles from funk to heavy
metal, the evening will include an announcement by Epic/Sony executives of a
national distribution deal with Heavy Rotation Records.

October 23- Bass Department Faculty Concert: A Tribute to Carol Kaye - Bass
department faculty members—David Clark, Danny Morris, Jim Stinnett, Bruce
Gertz— showcase the diversity of the department with a variety of groups and
settings in a tribute to famed studio bassist Carol Kaye.

October 31- Millennium Dreams Part 2/Kiyoshi Nishiji Presents Majestique Blue
- A contemporary Jazz fusion quintet called Swamp Things presents original
compositions by leader pianist/composer Emir Isialy. Then an eight piece fusion
band directed by drummer, composer and arranger Kiyoshi Nisihiji performs
original compositions and arrangements with special guests faculty members
Wayne Naus, trumpet; Paul Stiller, keyboards and Dino Govoni, tenor saxophone.

November 1- Fall Together - The Jazz Composition Dept. and a faculty Jazz

Orchestra will perform Ken Pullig’s extended composition “Politickle Your Fancy”, :

a 30-minute musical satire based on the presidential campaign and November
election. Additionally, there will be performances of pieces by Greg Hopkins, Ted
Pease, Bob Pilkington, Marc Rossi, Bruce Thomas, and Phil Wilson. The en-
semble is a jazz orchestra made up of Berklee faculty, many of them in feature
roles. Other featured guests include vocalist Bob Thompson and indojazz
saxophonist Phil Scarff.
