Berklee Performance Center Concerts

April 5 - Hand Percussion Night — Under the
direction of Mikael Ringquist, Hand Percussion
Night will feature Berklee’s own Bata ensemble
and Afro-Samba band “Batucaxé”. Mohammed
Khalifa Camara and his band will follow this.

April 6 - Percussion Department Scholarship
Winners - This concert will feature all of the
most recent Berklee student award winners.
These students represent some of Berklee’s fin-
est drumset, total percussion, hand percussion,
marimba, and vibraphone performers. Featured
performers include Jonathan Chapman,
Francisco Javier Molina Cornejo, Andrew
Bauer, Gregorio Uribe, Reiko Yamamoto, Jesse
Seymour, Zach Mangan, Herdi Xha, Noriaki
Kobayashi, Ronen Evron, Nathaniel Laguzza,
Erick Niessner and Anthony Steele.

April 10 - Songwriter’s Night- The Songwriting
Department presents its annual “Songwriters’
Night” showcase featuring the best student
songwriters and performers that Berklee has

to offer in styles ranging from contemporary
singer/songwriter to rock and country. Featuring
the 12 winning songs of the 90 songs that were
entered, most of the songs will be arranged by
the writers. Featured songwriters include Justin
Levinson, Eric French, James Farrell, Jonelle Vette,
Freddy Hall, Liam McCormack, Erin Barra, Jarod
Salvatore, Katie Gosnell, Lucas Carpenter, Julian
Peterson, Femke Weidema, Charlie Worsham
and Kyle Hauser.

April 12 - Writing Division Awards Concert- The
Professional Writing Division presents it annual
Awards Concert featuring award-winning writ-
ers from the division.

April 13 - A Jazz Festival with the Rainbow
Band - This concert will showcase many of the
College’s top talents-instrumentalists as well as
composer/arrangers--as the Rainbow Band per-
forms jazz for large ensemble under the direc-
tion of faculty trombonist, composer, arranger
Phil Wilson.

April 18 - Jazz at the Center featuring The Back
Bay Brass & The Music of Ornette Coleman
Ensemble. — The Ensemble department presents

Big Band jazz under the direction of faculty
trombonist, composer, arranger Ben Elkins and
music of Ornette Coleman performed by a small
group ensemble under the direction of trombon-
ist Jeff Galindo.

April 19 - Guitar Student Showcase Concert-Jazz
& Blues - Under the direction of faculty mem-
bers Garrison Fewell and Curt Shumate, student
groups led by Masahi Maeda, Dani Rabin, Ryan
Fardy, Fabian Daurat and llan Bar-Lavi perform in
jazz and blues styles.

April 20 - Guitar Student Showcase Concert-
Rock & Pop - Under the direction of faculty
members Jon Finn and Lauren Passarelli, stu-
dent groups led by guitarists Az Samad, Drew
Taubenfeld, Adam Ollendorff and Charles
Shaugnessy perform in rock and pop styles.

April 27 - Singers Showcase- Berklees premiere
vocal event offers a variety of styles and musical
settings for some of the college’s exceptional
singers. The Spring 2006 Singer’s Showcase will
feature lead vocalists Ryan

Christopher Pinkston, Evan Baughman, J.C.
Casely, Georgel Arevalo, Jennifer Bostic, Tyla
Vercollone, Meg O'Brien, and Ferris Algaisi,

as well as Berklee's finest student players and
arrangers. The concert will feature the music of
Brian McKnight, Sarah Brightman, Billy

Joel, Marvin Gaye, Martina McBride, and many
others. This concert is produced by the Yo Team.

May 1 - Seven Visions: The Berklee
Contemporary Wind Ensemble — The CWO will
present the World Premiere of student, Herlen
Galvez as well as the new music of two faculty
members, Alexandros Kalogeras and Mimi
Rabson. Moreover, we shall also feature the win-
ner of the college wide Concerto Competition,
Thomas Parisch, oboe. In addition the CWO

will present the artistry of two faculty soloists,
Apostolos Paraskevas, guitar and Mimi Rabson,
violin. A major work of composer Igor Stravinsky
A Symphony of Wind Instruments (1920) will be
performed.
