David Friend Recital Hall Concerts
April 25 - 2:30 pm The Music of Miles Davis
- Under the direction of Kenneth Cervenka,
this student ensemble performs the music of
Miles Davis. Music of Miles - Acoustic is per-
forming first and Music of Miles - Electric fol-
lows.
April 25 - 4:00 pm - The Berklee Joni
Mitchell Ensemble - Faculty guitarist Abby
Aronson Zocher directs this ensemble playing
their own arrangements of Ms. Mitchell’s
music for rhythm sections, violin, cello, guitar
and vocals.
April 25 - 7:30 pm - Blazing Fingers — The
Berklee Country Music Ensemble under the
direction of faculty guitarist Mike Ihde, per-
forms top country hits as well as instrumen-
tals in classic country, western swing, and
rockabilly styles. An exciting and entertain-
ing evening of Hot Country and Blazing
Instrumentals performed by Berklee's best
Pickers and Singers.
April 26 - 1:00 pm - Contemporary Middle
Eastern Ensemble — Student ensemble per-
forming music from the Middle East under
the direction of faculty member Craig Mcrae.
April 26 - 2:30 pm - The Music of James
Brown Ensemble - Under the direction of fac-
ulty member Kenwood Dennard, this ensem-
ble features the groundbreaking and epoch-
making music of James Brown. This concert
will include student-generated arrangements
and improvisations on several of Mr. Brown's
most influential compositions.
April 26 — 4:00 pm - Latin Jazz Ensemble —
Student ensemble under the direction of fac-
ulty bassist Oscar Stagnaro performs Latin
jazz.
April 27 - 1:00 pm - Advanced Small Band
Ensemble - Post Bop and contemporary jazz
compositions by John Coltrane, Dave
Liebman Mike Brecker and Freddie Hubbard
will be performed by this six piece ensemble
directed by Ed Tomassi.

Nascimento and Brandao.

Ensemble — Melodious fusion compositions
by faculty trumpeter Tiger Okoshi will be per-
formed by his student ensemble.
April 27 - 7:30 pm - Dennis Montgomery -
Student ensemble performs under the direc-
tion of faculty member Dennis Montgomery.
April 28 - 1:00 pm - Music of Ornette
Coleman Ensemble — Under the direction of
faculty member Jeff Galindo.
April 28 - 2:30 pm - Latin Jazz Ensemble -
Student ensemble under the direction of fac-
ulty bassist Oscar Stagnaro performs Latin
jazz.
April 28 - 4:00 pm - Reggae/Dub Ensemble -
Faculty member Winston Maccow presents
his student ensemble performing reggae and
dub music.
April 28 - 7:30 pm - The Contemporary
Chamber Music Ensemble — Under the direc-
tion of faculty member Robin Ginenthal, this
ensemble performs 20th and 21st century
music. The ensemble performs vocal and
instrumental works by Ravel, Stravinsky,
Gould, Rodrigo, Bernstein, Ibert, Rorem, and
Tull.
April 29 - 1:00 pm - African Pop Ensemble —
African Pop music as well as originals by the
ensemble will feature an exceptionally hard
grooving drum/percussion section under the
direction of faculty member Bob Pilkington.
April 29 - 2:30 pm - Roots of Country Music
- Music from Hank Williams, Buck Owens,
Bill Monroe will be presented in both tradi-
tional and contemporary style arrangements
under the direction of faculty member John
McGann.
