BERKLEE PERFORMANCE CENTER CONCERTS

FALL ’83






WORKING IT OUT - Pianist Ron Druyan leads his Big Band
through an evening of original compositions and arrange-
ments in a variety of styles including jazz, funk & latin.

NOV 17 THE BERKLEE CONCERT JAZZ ORCHESTRA - Herb Pomeroy directs
the most prestigious ensemble in the college through a
program of contemporary Big Band music.

NOV 21 YNSQ VS. THE DON'T BE'S - Berklee faculty saxophonist/

composer Allan Chase leads ''Your Neighborhood Saxophone
Quartet" through a program that blends jazz, new music

compositions and free improvisations. The second half

will feature original "avant-funk" music.

NOV 22 A UNIVERSAL LOVE CONCERN - Original compositions in a
variety of styles including jazz, calypso, funk and latin
jazz will be presented by pianist David Matthews.

NOV 28 HOLIDAY CONCERT - A concert featuring three of Berklee's vocal
groups, The Concert Choir directed by Brian O'Connell, The Gospel
Choir directed by Orville Wright, and The Mass Transit directed
by Charlie Sorrento.
















NOV 29 THEME AND VARIATIONS - The premiere performance
of an original extended work for octet as well as tunes by
Chick Corea, James Van Heusen and others is offered by tenor
saxophonist/clarinetist John La Porta.

NOV 30 THE BERKLEE SINGER'S SHOWCASE - A revue featuring n?ne of
Berklee's hottest young singers is presented by the Berklee
Performance Studies Department.

DEC 1 THE STUDIO ORCHESTRA CONCERT = The Studio Orchestra, comprised
of some of Berklee's top performers, returns to the Performance
Center stage to present a program of original compositions and
arrangements ranging from jazz to pop.

DEC 5 B. J. BAND - An international funk Big Band containing some of
the finest instrumentalists from Berklee and the Boston area
is directed by Bjorn Jorgensen and Anders Eriksson.

DEC 6 AN EVENING WITH THE DUES BAND - Trombonist Phil Wilson leads
The International Dues Band through an exciting program of
Big Band jazz featuring the music of Duke Ellington.

DEC 7 SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY - Faculty member Mike Ihde directs the
"Flat Rats and Sail Cats" through their annual concert of
country, rock, pop and swing featuring Jim Woods on fiddle.
