BERKLEE PERFORMANCE CENTER CONCERTS
FALL 83

Double Concert: IN THE THICK OF IT/IN
THE NAME OF LOVE - Student vocalist
Brigette Beech offers a program that
ineludes funk, lavin and jazz originals.
The second half features student saxo-
phonist James Mosley, Jr. and his octet.

THE STYLES OF "LA TROPICA" - In their 8th
concert in the Berklee Performance Center,
faculty trumpeter Edgard Nevarez and student
trumpeter Tommy Villariny lead their nine-
piece ensemble "La Tropica' through an ex-
citing concert of latin/jazz/rock and Afro-
Antillian rhythms emceed by Jose Masso, the
host of WBUR-FM's "Con Salsa' show.

DESIGN - Senior pianist Niels Lan Doky will
lead an all-star faculty and,student group
in a program of original and contemporary
latin and- jazz compositions.

PAINTED BIRDS - An exciting concert of
original funk and fusion by the group
"Painted Birds" will be led by senior
guitarist Alex Merck.

NEW MUSIC SERIES, FALL CONCERT - A concert of
new chamber music written by members of the
composition department faculty is directed by
George Cordeiro.

MORDY FERBER - This concert will showcase
the talents of student guitarist Mordy
Ferber who will lead his group through an
evening of original jazz/fusion compositions
and arrangements.
