David Friend Recital Hall Concerts

October 4 — Reunion - Concert of jazz
and Brazilian music, featuring vocalist Lisa
Thorson and pianist Doug Johnson.

October 9 - 8 Shades of Blue - Led by faculty
guitarist Craig Hlady the concert will feature
originals and standards in a blues based small
group setting which will also mix elements of
jazz and funk.

October 10 - Sal Difusco Project — The Sal
Difusco Project will perform original jazz rock
fusion material. The band consists of guitar,
sax, drums, keys, bass, and percussion.

October 15 - Nicholl & Farquharson - Wind
Music - The third in a series of concerts by
Matthew Nicholl and Michael Farquharson,
Wind Music features compositions for wood-
wind quintet, rhythm section and saxophone
“soloist. The ensemble includes Nicholl on
piano, Farquharson on fretted, fretless, and
piccolo basses, Greg Badolato on tenor sax,
Steve Langone on drums, and a woodwind
quintet composed of faculty and area profes-
sionals. Nicholl and Farquharson each wrote
half of the program.

October 18 — Esterhazy Quartet - This will

be the 10 th year that the Esterhazy String
Quartet --Violin, Eva Szekely, Susan Jensen,
Viola, Leslie Perna, Cello, Darry Dolezal-- will
be a visiting artist residency at Berklee. In the
David Freidn Recital Hall they will present a
concert of music for string quartet including
works by Haydn, Schubert and American
composer James Willey.

October 30 - Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble — The
Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble presents works by
faculty composers Rosey Lee and Richard
Applin for voice and chamber ensembles.
Performers include Robin Ginenthal, Shin Yi
Yang, and August Watters.

November 1 — Storytellers - Storytellers,
under the direction of faculty vocalist Did
Stewart is a show geared toward pop/rock
performers of all kinds, and providing an
intimate showcase for rock-oriented covers
and originals. In addition, selected vocalists
are expected to communicate directly with
the audience, revealing the “story behind the
song”.

November 7 - Marimba Music from
Guatemala - Faculty member Ricardo
Monzon will present a program of music
from Guatemala, where the Marimba is con-
sidered the national instrument.

November 13 — The Secret Music Project -
The Secret Music Project is a unique quartet,
performing original music influenced by jazz,
middle-eastern, Israeli, and classical Indian
music under the direction of Nadav Remez.
