FALL 1986
SWAMP TALK — Faculty pianist/composer Robert Dogan directs a
concert of original compositions mixing funk and jazz styles
performed by a faculty ensemble featuring Woodwind Department
Chairman Jimmy Mosher.
THE DAVE BAZINET QUARTET PLUS — An evening of original
straight-ahead jazz compositions will be presented by faculty
pianist Dave Bazinet leading a quartet.
JOHN BABOIAN AND FRIENDS — Mainstream jazz originals
composed by faculty guitarist John Baboian will be performed
by a sextet that includes faculty members Bill Thompson and
Dan Harrington, woodwinds, and Roy Okutani, trumpet.
OPEN CHANNEL D — Faculty guitarist Darcy Hepner leads a small
ensemble in an evening of both jazz and fusion styles with special
guest, new faculty member, guitarist Don Mixon.
TIME TO BURN — The Bert Seager Quintet will be showcased by
Woodwind Department Chairman Jimmy Mosher with faculty
drummer Joe Hunt, bassist Dan Greenspan and trumpeter
Tim Hagans performing contemporary jazz from their recent
album, Time to Burn.
Double Concert — ROUND TRIP/FRIENDS — Senior drummer
Teff Michne presents his five-piece band Round Trip in a concert of
original funE and jazz-rock compositions. In the second half,
guitarist Ken Carr leads his sextet in a program of original
progressive jazz with saxophonists Don McCaslin and Warren Hill.
GIL GRAHAM AND FRIENDS — Hard core jazz in the ECM style
will be performed by an all-faculty quartet led by drummer
Gil Graham with Bob Zung, alto sax, Bruce Barth, piano and
Greg Mooter, bass.
MANIFESTATION — Senior bassist Roy Louis leads a sextet in a
program of original jazz fusion with special guest saxophonist
Bobby Stern.
FALL TOGETHER '86 — The Jazz Composition Department
presents an evening of big band jazz compositions and
arrangements by Department Chairman Ken PUI’lli‘ig and faculty
members Bob Pilkington, Greg Hopkins, Bruce Thomas and others
performed by an all-faculty band. An extended piece by
Professional Writing Division Chairman Ted Pease will be featured.
