Friday, March 31 Six Drumsets Contemporary drum and percussion music under
the direction of Berklee faculty drummer Steve Wilkes will feature six drummers at
six drumkits performing Wilkes’ Drums Symphony #1 and other new compositions.

Saturday, April 1 Pearl/Zildjian Night-Celebrate the Drum - Under the direction
of Percussion department faculty member Casey Scheuerell, a variety of ensembles
from small band to big band to percussion ensemble will perform drumset and
percussion music with special guests Marvin ‘Smitty’ Smith, J.R. Robinson, the U.
Mass Drumline with Thom Hannum, the Berklee World Percussion Ensemble and
the Berklee Woody Herman ensemble directed by faculty member Greg Hopkins.

Sunday, April 2, Yamaha/Zildjian Night-Berklee Rainbow Band - Guest artists
Alex Acuna, Steve Hougton, Tony Verderossa as well as faculty member Giovanni
Hidalgo will perform with the Berklee Rainbow Band under the direction of faculty
trombonist/composer/arranger Phil Wilson.

April 4 - Songwriters’ Night XI - This evening’s concert showcases the winers of
the annual college-wide songwriting contest. Under the direction of faculty member
Bob Weingart, the performances will range from alternative rock to folk to
mainstram pop and German Art Song.

April 6 International Folk Festival -This special event, sponsored by the Perfor-
mance Studies Department, the Office of the Dean of Students and the Student
Activities Center, will feature ten ensembles representing Mexico, Peru, China,
Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Greece, Brazil, Poland, The Alpen Region, and Russia
playing the music of their native homelands. There will also be a special perfor-
mance of Japanese music led by Piano faculty member Makoto Takanaka. This
presentation is dedicated to the earthquake victims of Japan. Following the
performance, everyone is invited to a party in the Dining Hall where food from
around the world can be sampled.

April 11 Professional Writing Division 1995 Awards Concert This concert,
under the direction of Divsion Chair Joe Smith, will feature the music of student
award winners from each department in the Professional Writing Division. Musical
styles and instrumentation will vary from small to large ensembles.

April 13 Commercial Arranging Department Student Concert - This first annual
concert, under the direction fo deparmtnet chair Jay Kennedy and faculty member
Jerry Gates, will feature the writing of majors in Commercial Arranging performed
by faculty and students from the Berklee Recording Orchestra.
