David Friend Recital Hall Concerts
February 21- Tribute To Paul Robeson - This concert by faculty vocalist
Larry Watson will include the music of the great basso vocalist and
political activist Paul Robeson and spoken words of Malcolm X who was
assassinated on February 21.
February 22 Tomo Fujita and Blue Funk - Faculty guitarist Tomo Fujita
presents “Blue Funk,” featuring Berklee faculty members Larry Finn,
drums; Dave Limina, organ and Anthony Vitti, bass performing Tomo’s
original compositions which are mix of funk rhythms, jazz changes and
blues solos.
February 27- Duo Sessions — Faculty vocalist Lisa Thorson and pianist
Cho Yoon Seung present explorations of jazz repertoire and original
compositions including works by Denny Zeitlin, Kenny Wheeler, Bill Evans
and others.
February 28- Nelson Faria - Visiting artist Nelson Faria performs Brazilian
music with faculty bassist Oscar Stagnaro as part of guitar week activi-
ties.
March 1- Bebop Guitars - Faculty guitarists John Baboian, Larry Baione,
John Marasco, Jack Pezanelli, and John Wilkins perform bebop arranged
for five guitars.
March 2- Larry Baione - Guitar department chair Larry Baione performs
mainstream jazz compositions as part of guitar week activities.
March 5- Jonne Brackeen
March 6- Emanuel Zambelli Scholarship Concert with Katie Burduli - The
winner of the Zambelli Scholarship, pianist Katie Burduli, will perform
classical compositions as part of Pinao Week activities.
March 12- Between Here & There — Vliada Tomova presents an evening of
ambient as well as drum and bass music heavily infussed with Balkan
traditional music performed by her group .WAV.
