David Friend Recital Hall Concerts 5 -
April 23

1:00 p.m. Music of the Spheres — Ensemble department faculty member
Dave Samuels performs with Alain Mallet, piano, Oscar Stagnaro, bass
and Mark Walker, drums.

3:30 p.m. Double Duty - Kicking off ensemble week faculty vocalist
Nancy Morris presents is joined by faculty from the ear training depart-
ment and the Double Duty ensemble where students both play and sing.
They will be performing a variety of pop/rock/country compositions
including music fromKenny Loggins, Dolly Parton and Janis Joplin.
Faculty vocalists Paul Stiller, Tom Baskett, Yumiko Matsuoka are joined
by faculty keyboardist Mark Shilansky.

7:30 p.m. The Berklee String Orchestra — Under the direction of faculty
cellist Eugene Friesen, this ensemble will perform a variety of contempo-
rary compositions for strings.

April 25 :

4:00 p.m. Is What It Is - Ensemble department chair Ron Savage
presents original jazz music by group members Woodwind Chair Bill
Pierce, saxophone, ensemble faculty members Consuelo Candelaria,
piano, Ron Mahdi, bass and special guest, Darren Barrett, trumpet.

7:30 p.m. Classic Brass — Brass department faculty member Charles
Lewis presents the Berklee Brass Five-tet and the Wednesday Brass
Essembles performing classical brass music ranging from Josquin Des
Pres to Jan Bach.

Arpril 26

1:00 p.m. Swinging Strings - Ensemble department faculty member
George Zonce presetns compositions and arrangements of jazz with
strings, conducted by faculty member August Watters and performed by
Berklee's acoustic strings ensembles.
