Berklee Performance Center Concerts S

April 6- Songwriter’s Night - The twelve winning student songs from the annual =
Berklee Songwriters’ Competition from Fall semester 1998 will be performed in a i
variety of writing styles including R & B, pop, alternative rock, alternative folk with
arrangements including solo, duo, full band, strings and horns.. The Songwriters’
Night Band will perform on a half dozen of the winning songs along with small
string and horn ensembles. Co-directed by Songwriting Department Chair Jack S
Perricone and faculty member John Stevens.

April 8 - International Folk Fest -

The Yo Team and the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs presents the

13th International Folk Festival. This year's show will feature the music of —r
Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Ireland, Columbia, Israel, China, Taiwan, Japan, Jamaica,
Sweden, and the United States. There will be a party in the Cafe following the &
show and everyone who attends the concert is invited.

Selected as the honorees to be recognized by the students, faculty, and adminis-
tration of Berklee College of Music for their helpfulness to our students, support :
of international educational exchange, and for promoting international goodwill l
and understanding: The Honorable Yang Lee, Consul General of the Republic of » &
Korea; Trustee Emeritus Roderick Nordell and Joan Nordell; Trustee Emeritus

Richard Wilton and Belva Wilton.

April 13- Writing Division Awards - The Professional Writing Division takes this
opportunity to showcase some of the best writing talent in the division. The s
writers are chosen from among the recipients of the Professional Writing Division
Honors Awards which were given in early March. Each of the division’s depart- .
ments chooses one writer to represent the department and one writer represents

the division as a whole.

The concert is a wonderful collection of diverse styles and personalities. This -
year's writers include David Guili (film scoring), Takako Kuniyuki (contemporary

writing and production), Ernesto Klar (jazz composition), Peter Rom (harmony), -
Anne Chandler (songwriting), Daniel Davis (composition), and Cirilo Fernandez
(professional writing division). This year’'s concert also features the Berklee
Concert Jazz Orchestra (directed by Greg Hopkins) along with an all star cast that
includes some of the best of Berklee’s performers. |

April 14- Jim Kelly & Bruce Saunders - Faculty guitarists Jim Kelly and Bruce j
Saunders present original jazz/rock compositions as part of Guitar Week perfor-
mances. 3

April 15- Joe Stump- Faculty guitarist Joe Stump presents original rock composi-
tions as part of Guitar Week performances.
