Berklee Performance Center Concerts
October 12-Jetro DaSilva Quartet - Piano
department assistant chair Jetro da Silva pres-
ents funk, Brazilian, and jazz improvisations
on originals and compositions by Herbie
Hancock performed by his quartet with
Lenny Stallworth, bass and John Blackwell,
drums and Ebeneezer da Silva, percussion.
October 18 - Rebecca Cline/Dave Samuels
- Ensemble department faculty members
Rebecca Cline and Dave Samuels lead their
groups in a program of Latin jazz.
October 20- A Tribute to Stevie Wonder -
Ensemble department faculty member Dennis
Montgomery Il presents a student and facul-
ty tribute to Stevie Wonder as part of
Ensemble week activities.
October 21-Concert Jazz Orchestra — The
Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra - Faculty
member Greg Hopkins directs this big band
in a program of contemporary jazz.
October 26-John DeCarlo - John DeCarlo
presents modern jazz and creative music for
quartet.
The Girls with the Hair — Vocalist Christine
Vaindirlis presents jazz-funk and fusion cov-
ers and originals for a large ensemble.
October 27-Fall Together - Fall Together
'04 will be the 20th concert we've presented
in this series which started in 1985. Featured
composers are: Greg Hopkins, Bob
Pilkington, Marc Rossi, Bruce Thomas, Phil
Wilson, and Ken Pullig. Ensemble size will
range from small group to big band and fea-
ture an all-star cast of performers that
includes students, faculty, and staff. The fea-
tured piece of the evening is Ken Pullig's
“Politickle Your Fancy"", a 30-minute jazz
oratorio that addresses the subject matter of
politics and the presidential election. It will
feature special guest Rebecca Shrimpton who
will be both vocalist and narrator.

Guitarist Ryu Nagata presents original con-
temporary jazz inspired by ECM recording
label’s Brad Mehldau, Mick Goodrick and
others. His quartet will feature Juan G.
Galiardo, piano, Hogyu Hwang, bass and
Nick Falk, drums.
Songs of Peace — Saxophonist Michael
Birnbryer presents songs of peace by John
Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Horace Silver
and others performed by James Williams, \
Peter Stoltzman, Curtis Madigan, and Khari .,
Lee.
November 4- Contemporary Writing and
Production Faculty Concert - This year's
annual Contemporary Writing and -
Production concert will feature original com- *
positions by department faculty. Music for
winds, strings and rhythm section will be
played by a band of Berklee faculty led by
CWP Chair Matthew Nicholl. The concert will
be extremely diverse, covering a wide range
of styles including Latin, jazz, world, funk
and R&B.
