WELCOME !
Tonight 1s special for me. It is a chance to share some of
my misical ldeas with my friends. There will be quite a variety of
pleces presented. The improvisational concepts range from the
*raditional harmonic framework to pure melodic forms to the use of
what [ call environmental improvisational pieces-- works in which the
performers lmprovise a character(s) either animate or inanimate, to
gortray a scene musically.
. Having played the standard guitar for some years as an improvisor
I wanted tg explore another instrumental medium. I chose the
"Rubbertellie™. It {s a totally standard telecaster guitar, absolutely
0 additives, hut approached in a totally non-standard way. It Is
held differently, played differently, tuned quite differently, hence
the cnncnpthal prefix “rubber" to indicate that it has stretched the
traditional boundaries of the instrument. “Happy Birthday Rubbeftellle“
was composed just for thls occasion since it was exactly ten years ago
that "R.T." was Introduced at the Stone Soup Gallery concert series.
nyibpry speclal thanks to Bill for schlepping all the way from
nohoken to bring us his beautiful talents and to the guys for helping
to bring this msic to 1ife. Thanks to Betsy for her total support,
Julfe and Mary for camera talents and to the Berklee staff. Without
“hefr creative energy none of it could happen.
And thanks to you for being the receiving element so necessary
for the completion of the art form we are exploring.
