SUMMER 1988
THE SECRET — Faculty pianist Laszlo Gardony presents contemporary
acoustic jazz originals performed by his trio.
Double Concert—REAL INTENTION/ALPHA —In the first half of
this double concert bassist Yoshihiko Suwa directs his quartet in an
evening of contemporary jazz originals. In the second half, alto saxo-
phonist Mark Gross presents a quintet performing straight-ahead jazz
with special guests trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis and saxophonist
Antonio Hart.
CHEAP JAZZ & BARGAIN BASEMENT BLUES —Faculty guitarist
Michael Williams presents his quartet, with faculty pianist
Russell Hoffman, performing the music of Benny Golson,
Wes Montgomery, Benny Wallace and others.
Double Concert— TRIBUTE TO MAHAVISHNU/THE LITTLE BIG
BAND — Drummer Richard Letourneau opens this concert with a trib-
ute to the Mahavishnu Orchestra music of John McLaughlin performed
by his quintet. In the second half, woodwind player/ composer/arranger
Solomon Goldenberg presents his little big band performing a program
of diverse jazz styles.
Five-week Summer Program Welcoming Concert—THE BLUES
BANGERS & FRIENDS— Faculty guitarist Bob Doezema welcomes the
students in the five-week program with a program of Texas-style tradi-
tional and contemporary blues performed by his quartet with many
special faculty guests.
SUMMER BEAST FEAST —Faculty arranger/composer Richard Evans
presents his big band, The Berklee Charteaters, in a program of instru-
mental and vocal jazz, pop and fusion.
Double Concert—DON'T MESS WITH HESS/ THE EXPERIENCE —
Drummer Dan Foote opens this two-part concert with a program
of fusion originals as well as compositions by Michael Jackson,
Yellowjackets and others. Special guest performers include bassist
Kai Eckhardt and percussionist Joe Galeota. In the second half,
composer/arranger Jorge Satragno presents contemporary Latin jazz
originals performed by his sextet with special guest faculty saxo-
phonist George Garzone.
ONE NIGHT ONLY — Vocalist Jennifer Terry presents an evening
of rock, blues and pop/rock originals to be performed by her sextet
including guitarist Kevin Barry, saxophonist Warren Hill and key-
boardist Dave Limina. Faculty guitarist Robert Stanton will be a special
guest performer.
