FALL 1987

Oct. 5 THE KENTON YEARS — Faculty vocalist Maggi Scott fronts the
eighteen-piece Greg Hopkins Orchestra in a tribute to the music
of big band leader Stan Kenton.

Oct. 6 JOHN BABOIAN & FRIENDS —Mainstream and contemporary
jazz standards and originals will be performed by faculty guitarist
John Baboian and his sextet of Berklee faculty members.

Oct. 7 SHIMATTER/CEU & SOL —In the first half of this two-part concert G
bassist Tomoyuki Shima leads his quartet in a program of jazz origi- '
nals. In the second half, drummer Shu Matsuyama presents Latin/funk
compositions by Milton Nascimento, Egberto Gismonti, Chick Corea
and others performed by his septet.

Oct. 13 IS THERE LIFE AFTER HARMONY —This concert will feature
contemporary styvles in settings from small group to big band written
and performed by Harmony Department faculty under the direction
of Chairman Barrie Nettles. 4

Oct. 15 FALL TOGETHER— Department Chairman Ken Pullig and faculty ;
composer/arranger Bob Pilkington present the music of Jazz Com- )
position Department faculty in their third annual concert. Ensemble {



size will range from quintet to a twenty-two-piece big band and fea- |
tured writers include Writing Division Chairman Ted Pease, faculty 5
members Ken Pullig, Greg Hopkins. Phil Wilson, Bob Pilkington, 1
Bruce Thomas and Bill Scism. P
Oct. 19 NEW SOURCE — Faculty trumpeter Bill Scism leads his eight-piece

ensemble in a program of fusion, Latin and jazz originals.
Oct. 26 SERIOUSLY NOW... —A wide variety of contemporary chamber

works by Berklee faculty composers John Bavicchi. William Maloof, ]
Bob Myers, Tom McGah, Ken Pullig, Dennis LeClaire and Greg Fritze ; ,t
is presented by the Composition Department under the direction of 1
Chairman William Maloof. !

Oct. 28 STATE OF THE HEART —Songwriting Department Chairman
Jack Perricone presents original pop songs by himself and depart-
ment members John Aldrich. Jim Kachulis. John Stevens and <?
Bob Weingart in a variety of instrumental settings.
