STATE OF THE HEART —Songwriting Department Chairman
Jack Perricone presents original pop songs with the subject of |
love as their theme, written by himself and department members "



John Aldrich, Jim'Kachulis, Pat Pattison, John Stevens, David Van Slyke
and Bob Weingart with guest vocalists Gail Wynters and
Lauren Kinhan.

MILES FROM MENDOZA /EVERYBODY NEEDS IT—In the first \

half of this two-part concert keyboardist Natalio Faingold presents A £
original compositions in various styles moulded by a Latin and jazz o
feel and performed by a ten-piece ensemble. In the second half e
vocalist Maria Robbins leads a jazz quintet in a program of originals v A,

and compositions by Jimmy Guiffre, George Gershwin, Bill Evans
and others.

BLAKE’S RAIN/ATMAN — Bassist Blake Newman opens this
double bill with his trio performing original compositions in a
highly improvisational style. Joining Newman are faculty drummer
Ian Froman and guitarist John Dirac. In the second half saxophon-
ist Donny McCaslin leads a quartet, including faculty drummer
Marcello Pelliteri, in a program of original contemporary jazz.

A JOYFUL NOISE /DAYBREAK II— Tenor saxophonist James Eason
leads his quartet in a program of original jazz compositions and
arrangements to open up this double concert. In the second half alto
saxophonist Bill Holman presents acoustic jazz in various styles from
hard bop to fusion.

PIGS IN SPACE—ACT III /SWEET FURY —In the first half of this
double bill Torben Waldorff and Margareta Olin co-lead “Pigs In
Space—Act III} a program of straight-ahead jazz originals for their
quintet. Trombonist Jeff Galindo then leads his quartet through a
program of post bebop compositions by Dave Liebman, Woody Shaw,
Galindo and others. :



LANDSHARK!—Music Synthesis faculty member Kurt Biederwolf
directs this concert of electronic art music for synthesizers, percus- P
sion and bass with synthesist Jamshied Sharifi.

THE BERKLEE CONCERT WIND ENSEMBLE —Faculty
composer/tubist Greg Fritze leads the forty-five-piece Concert ‘
Wind Ensembile in a program of contemporary concert music “ .
by faculty composers Bob Freedman, Tom Plsek, Scott Fessler

and Richard Boulanger with guest soloists faculty members # 5
Greg Hopkins, trumpet and Trombone Department Chairman
