ABOYT THE MUSIC
The environmental composition heard prior to the concert is entitled
“The Crowd® composed by Jon with editing by Ralph Rosen.
Skee-Dap-M-Be-Bap - An instrumental scat in a pure melodic form that
makes for some good finger-poppin'. This {s a blues-oriented
tune but not in the traditional 12-bar form.
Three Adagios for Two Guitars - Arranged for two gultgrs from a
cello sonata.
On_the Trall - From the Grand Canyon Suite by Ferde Grofe.
Happy Birthday Rubbertellie - Composed for this occasion, the 10th
anniversary of Rubbertellie.
Doreen and Alice - The idea for this “vocal" piece came very early
one morning. My extremely shallow TMing was broken by a strange
voice in the alleyway . . . &
That's Show Biz - Some bits and pieces from my experience in the
theater business make up this composition.
Bye-Bop - A not so regular be-bop tune, but the tradition is definitel)
there.
Poiple (the color at twilight in Brooklyn, N.Y.) - a tune built more
in the traditional harmonic sense. : ‘
Someday My Prince Will Come - The standard tune from “Snow White and
‘ the Seven Dwarfs".
Bird Opus - Instead of using a standard harmonic progression to improvis
with, this composition uses a progression a bit different.
Argentina - A nice relaxed Latin groove emerges from the solo
introduction and statement of the theme. |
