David Friend Recital Hall Concerts
June 21- The Tony Lada Quartet - Faculty trombonist Tony Lada presents
his quartet, including faculty members pianist Russell Hoffman and
bassist Barry Smith, performing originals and jazz standars. Steeped in
the rich tradition of the post-Bebop style the Tony Lada Quartet blends
the discipline of jazz composition, with the freedom and flexibility of
improvisation. The quartet offers original compositions and arrangements
that integrate blues swing Latin, and other diverse musical elements.
July 12- Javier Flores Masters Recital - Master student flutist Javie
Flores presents his graduation recital.
July 18- Zanzibar - Faculty saxophone and synthophone player Randy
Felts will present and evening of original compositions in a Latin-jazz
fusion style. Four horn players including faculty members Berke
McKelvey and Daniel Ian Smith will join drummer Kevin Higgins
and an expanded rhythm section including Berklee alums Steven
Barbosa on hand drums and percussion and Nicholas Mustelin on
piano.
July 26- Jude Crossen - Faculty Vocalist Jude Crossen presents pop/rock
originals in an “unplugged” setting for his six-piece ensemble.
August 1- The Berklee Country Ensemble - Under the direction of faculty
guitarist Mike Ihde, Berklee's best country players will perform original
and classic country, bluegrass and western swing tunes with instrumenta-
tion including mandolin, banjo, lap steel guitar and vocals.
August 7- Concert Choir -The Berklee Singers (the Summer Concert
Choir) is a small mixed voice choral group directed by faculty member
Anne Peckham, and is dedicated to performing traditional choral music.
