Berklee Performance Center Concerts

SUMMER 1993

July 27 K.T. & THE GROOVE MERCHANTS—Faculty guitarist Kenneth Taft
presents a program of blues, soul, and jazz for his seven-piece en-
semble and featuring special guest Nat Simpkins.

July 28 GUITAR DOMINANCE—Summer Performance Program faculty mem-
ber Joe Stump performs original heavy metal compositions for trio
from his latest recording, Guitar Dominance!

August 4 THE CONCERT CHOIR—Under the direction of Voice Department
faculty member Anne Peckham, the 45-voice Concert Choir will
perform famous choruses from Brahm'’s Requiem, Mt. of Olives by
Beethoven, Copland’s The Tender Land and Fauré’s Cantique de Jean
Racine. The Concert Choir Chamber Singers will also perform a set of
small ensemble works by Byrd, Brahms, and others.

August 5 THE BACK BAY BRASS JAZZ ORCHESTRA—Big band jazz originals
will be presented by faculty trombonist, composer, and arranger Ben
Elkins with special guest vocalist Conny Devany.

August 11 FIVE-WEEK BLOW-OUT—The Five-week Summer Performance
Program winds up with this concert featuring some of the program’s
best ensembles ranging from small groups to big band and the five-
week choir. Musical styles will include rock, jazz, and fusion.
