Berklee Performance Center Concerts

November 2- Panicamilincina/.WAV-Guitar, bass drums trio under the
direction of Francesco Guaina plays jazz originals influenced by Italian,
Middle East, and European Folk Music and interpreted with dynamic
interply among trio members. Then percussionist/composer Vessela
Stoyanova presents the .WAV ensemble-two Bulgarians, a Macedonian,
two Greeds, a Swiss and three Americans mixing surf rock and eastern
flavors in a style that attempts to fuse eastern and western musics.

November 8 - Live from CWP, it’s Wednesday Night!

The Contemporary Writing and Production Department faculty showcase
their compositions and arrangements in their annual concert. Featuring a
veritable potpourri of musical styles ranging from jazz and fusion to
calypso and rhumba-guaguanco, performers will include Berklee College
alumni and Boston Pops vocalist, Robin McElhatten, as well as many of
Berklee's renowned faculty. CWP Department Chair Jay Kennedy directs.

November 9 - Mirando al Sur/The Return of Zorro

Faculty vocalist-composer Mili Bermejo and double bassist Dan
Greenspan present their sextet in performance as part of Latin Culture
Week activities.: _

Featured in this project is Bermejois fellow countryman Claudio Ragazzi,
of film scoring renown whose haunting compositions and fiery guitar-
playing define the musical geography and catalyze the group’s perfor-
mances. The sextet is completed by pianist Tim Ray, accordionist Evan
Harlan and drummer Steve Langone. Repertoire includes zambas,
chacareras and tangos: traditional as well as those by a generation of
contemporary Argentinean writers, and features original compositions by
Ragazzi with lyrics by Bermejo.

Then faculty vibraphonist Victor Mendoza leads his Latin Jazz Sextet
performing original music from his latest CD Black Bean Blues. This
group includes faculty members saxophonist Jim Odgren, bassist
Fernando Huergo, Egui Castrillo, percussion as well as Alon Yavanai,
piano, and Stevée Langone, drums.

November 13- Singers Night- Outstanding student vocalists representing
all semester levels will perform in a variety of styles including jazz, rock,
R&B, country and Latin under the direction of Voice department chair Jan
Shapiro and Assistant Professor Kira Small. The singers will be backed by
a faculty rhythm section.
