David Friend Recital Hall Concerts
April 27, 7:30pm- Berklee Marimba Labs - This semester’s Berklee Marimba
Concert, directed by Nancy Zeltsman, will feature performances by two Marimba
Performance Labs, the Marimba Transcriptions and Repertoire Lab, the Marimba
in Mixed Chamber Music Lab, and Berklee solo marimbists.
April 28, 1:00pm- Reggae/Dub Ensemble - Faculty member Winston Maccow pre-
sents his student ensemble performing reggae and dub music.
April 28, 2:30pm- Music of the Meters - Faculty led student ensemble plays the
music of the popular New Orleans funk band of the 60’s and 70’s under the direc-
tion of Bob Tamagni.
April 28, 7:30pm- Bubble Dance — Faculty member Tiger Okoshi presents his stu-
dent fusion and contemporary jazz ensembles performing Okoshi originals. Focus-
ing on the color, the shape, blend, brightness, darkness and harmonics of each
instrument the arrangements are designed for the soloist to tell long stories and
develop mature contents of improvisational solos.
April 29, 1:00pm- Music of the Crusaders - Faculty saxophonist Dan Moretti
leads this student ensemble through the best of the soul/funk jazz pioneers, The
Crusaders with compositions and arrangements by Joe Sample, Wayne Henderson,
and Stix Hooper.
April 29, 2:30pm- Ayer y Hoy-Latin Ensemble- Faculty bassist Oscar Stagnaro
presents this Latin Ensemble playing afrocuband and Brazilan music by bill o'Conell,
Oriente Lopez, Tania Maria, Oscar Hernandez and others.
April 29, 4:00pm- Progressive Rock Ensemble directed by Jon Finn
April 29, 7:30pm- Sin Wagon — Berklee’s Country Music Ensemble performs coun-
try tunes from yesterday and today by Toby Keith, The Dixie Chicks, patsy Cline
and many others with guest banjo player Dave Hollender.
April 30, 1:00pm- Swinging Strings V - Jazz standards with String Section per-
formed under the direction of Geroge Zonce.
April 30, 2:30pm- Contemporary Christian Ensemble directed by Nancy Morris
April 30, 4:00pm- Caribbean Advanced Small Band with Vocals directed by Win-
ston Maccow
April 30, 7:30pm- The Afro-Pop Ensemble - African Pop music by Femi Kuti, Paul
Simon, Hilife International as well as originals by the ensemble will feature an ex-
ceptionally hard grooving drum/percussion section under the direction of faculty
member Bob Pilkington.
