David Friend Recital Hall Concerts
July 18 — Frank Carlberg - Faculty Pianist Frank Carlberg presents jazz
compositions by Thelonious Monk in a trio setting featuring faculty
bassist Joshua Davis and Ferenc Nemeth, drums.
July 19 — Maraes De Assis Masters Recital — Guitarist Gustavo Assis
Brasil will present a repertoire based on originals and arrangements of
compositions by Chick Corea, Bill Evans and others.
July 23 - Piano Recital - A recital of compositions for piano by Copland,
Leon Kirchner, Messiaen, J-W Kim, Beethoven and Chopin, performed by
pianists Masami Tomihisa, Kayo Yoshida, Hui-Won Kim, Joo-Wan Kim and
Yuka Hamano, students of Professor Ed Bedner.
July 26 — Soul Candy — Faculty vocalist Gwen Leathers presents Soul
Candy—a musical assortment of R&B, acoustic soul and funk styles with
production assistance from Claude Kelly. Selections include music by
artists such as Jill Scott, Sting, Stevie Wonder and Faith Evans. The
rhythm section includes percussion department faculty member
Angelamia Bachemin and guest performers lan Jones, guitar and guest
arrangers include Barry Silverman, Dan Williams, Gilson Schachnik and
Yoko Miwa.
July 30 — James Peterson
August 1 — 5 Week Songwriting Contest
August 2 — Touched - A guitar trio of faculty members Dave Weigert,
drums, Paul Del Nero, bass and guitar department chair Larry Baione will
perform straight ahead jazz classics.
August 6 — Concert Choir Chamber Singers— Voice department faculty
member Anne Peckham presents the Concert Choir Chamber Singers
performing a program of classic choral repertoire including compositions
by Faure, Mozart, Bruckner, Tchaikovsky and Randall Thompson.
August 7 — 4:00 p.m. The Music of Miles Davis — Faculty trumpeter Ken
Cervenka directs the Berklee Miles Davis Ensemble in a performance of
Berklee
